Why is a roofing workmanship warranty important to you?
This type of warranty typically states that if anything goes wrong on your roof due to faulty workmanship (like water leaks), they typically will fix it for free within the terms that they offer.
Some roofers may offer a 1-year warranty which isn’t bad. Most roof issues will arise within the first year anyway. But there are other roofing contractors that offer at least a 5-year warranty or longer. These roofing companies live and work in your city or town, are there to stay, and care about their reputation. They want to remain trustworthy to gain your current and future roof replacement business, not to mention referrals. Be sure to ask for a copy of theirs and beware if they don’t provide one for you.
Unfortunately, many roofing companies may not offer one at all. Often times they are from out of state (storm chasers) and won’t back up their workmanship/ installation because they know they won’t be around long enough to do their own roof repair work. Or, they’ll promise you a warranty but won’t deliver on it as they’ll be long gone.
